“Live United” is the United Way’s appeal for supporters to get involved in their community by giving, advocating, and volunteering. And employees at Cape Regional Medical Center are answering that call by signing on to a payroll deduction program that will help support the necessary services that the United Way of Cape May County and its partner agencies provide.

“Many hands make light work,” said United Way Executive Director, Suzanne Nardi. “So while the cost of a couple cups of coffee a week or one fast food meal doesn’t seem like much, when everyone pitches in a little, we can do great things in our community.”

Since the Rubber Ducky Regatta in August, bags of cute rubber duckies have been quietly hibernating in a local storage facility, waiting to be resorted and inventoried for next year’s race. But now is the time for all ducks to be counted, and the United Way of Cape May County is searching for a group of committed volunteers who are just daffy enough to make it happen.

“We have literally thousands of ducks,” United Way of Cape May County Executive Director Suzanne Nardi said. “And each and every one has to be accounted for.” Read more…

The employees of Bucks Electric, 100 East 7th Ave., North Wildwood, Live United. Every year, the company’s employees make a cash donation to a fund to purchase food for the United Way’s First Call for Help food pantry. The company then matches the employees’ donation and purchases much needed non-perishable food items that help local residents in crisis to make it through the cold winter months. It’s the generosity of local residents and businesses, like the folks at Buck’s, that help the United Way to help others.

Diapers are budget busters for some families, especially when a sudden job loss or crisis diminishes a family’s income. But Clermont Nine Realtors came to the rescue in December with a huge diaper drive for local families who are having trouble affording their basic needs.
