Lightning never strikes twice, and no one could have predicted that for the second year in a row, grave trouble would befall the United Way of Cape May County as they prepare for the annual Rubber Ducky Regatta. Against the odds, five duckies have again flown the coop.

Superfresh, in Cape May Court House, is helping out its neighbors, while helping out in the environment. The store donated a generous supply of reusable shopping bags to the United Way of Cape May County's First Call for Help food pantry.

Jerzey Boyz hold pig roast

A group of local motorcycle enthusiasts are roaring into summer with a smokin’ barbecue to celebrate the creation of their new motorcycle group, the Jerzey Boyz. The group is holding the family-friendly, pig roast by “JD’s Barbecue” at the Moose Lodge, 569 Seashore Road, Erma, from 3-9 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.

Super Shopper honored by United Way

For some people, shopping is a drudgery, but not for Ray Seible, of North Wildwood. Every week, Seible checks grocery store sale ads, clips coupons and organizes his plan of attack with the all the precision and skill of a military operation.

His mission—to get as many groceries as possible with as little money as he can spend, and when the job the done, he donates most of his booty of groceries to charity.

United Way duckies find temporary homes

The Rubber Ducky Regatta takes place on Aug. 10, but until then, the United Way needs a clean and convenient place to store and organize the ducks, and Molly and Ed Wisely, of Coastline Heating and Cooling, in Burleigh, came to the rescue by donating storage space.

‘Elks brighten lives’ with food pantry grant

More than 200 members of the Greater Wildwood Elks Lodge 1896, in North Wildwood, marched in the Elks Parade, June 7, alongside a colorful float that boasted how "Elks Brighten Lives." Last week, the Elks proved that point again by donating $9,800 to help feed the hungry at the First Call for Help food pantry in Wildwood.

Rubber ducks kick-off summer at Beach Blast

A flock of new rubber ducks is getting in shape for the 2008 Rubber Ducky Regatta, so they flew into Wildwood this week for a beachfront practice with the Cape Express Cyclones. The new duckies will be on Wildwood's beach again at the Beach Blast Soccer Tournament, June 28 – 29, to help the United Way of Cape May County "kick off" the summer season.

Cape Classic Motorcycle Club Named Donor of the Year

Cape Classic Motorcycle Club was honored as United Way donor of the year for donating the proceeds of a motorcycle raffle held during last year's Roar to the Shore. The contribution of $20,000 was the single greatest contribution the agency has ever received.
