    The Family Court Assessment Team (FCAT) provides a full range of assessment services for families referred by Cape May County Family Court. A team of professionals will complete family assessments, substance abuse evaluations, mental status evaluations, interim individual or family counseling, and coordination of services. Recommendations are made to the family and the referral source as to what services can best help the family. FCAT can assure that the appropriate sources of help are engaged and will monitor the progress each client is making.

  • Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit

    The Juvenile/Family Crisis Intervention Unit (J/F CIU) assists “families in crisis” through family counseling and/or referral to appropriate agencies in the community. Families in crisis may be experiencing parent-teen conflicts, teen runaway, truancy or other behaviors or conditions that endanger the family unit. Counselors will meet with members of the family who are concerned and involved in the conflict. The Crisis Intervention Unit can access Cape May County Family Court for assistance and direction if necessary. A counselor from CIU is available around the clock to help families in crisis.

  • Cape May County Youth Shelter

    The Youth Shelter provides short term out of home placement in a non secure setting to youth who are experiencing family problems, are victims of abuse or neglect or are charged with minor acts of delinquency. The placement allows various social service providers, the youth and the family an opportunity to participate in the development of a plan to address the presenting problem and, in many cases, provides a longer term treatment and rehabilitation strategy. Juveniles must be between the ages of 10 and 17 and referred to the Shelter by an approved admitting agency. Approved admitting agencies include Cape May County CIU, Cape May County Family Court and the Division of Youth and Family Services).

    The Youth Shelter also serves as the after-hour telephone screening service for Hotline Homeless and Juvenile Intake.
